EncryptoChat™ Client

Here is the whole EncryptoChat™ Client Screen :

The languages of the following countries are supported - this is the EU plus near neighbours: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Vatican City.

The following non-keyboard characters are available to insert using a single mouse click :

Western European including Nordic Countries   

    Eastern European Countries

Baltic States                         

  Bulgarian Cyrillic

and Greek   Characters     

When the country is selected from the menu, the appropriate sub-set of characters is placed at the top of the EncryptoChat Client screen.

Germany has been selected in the menu above so the 12 characters not available directly on the UK keyboad are placed ready for use.

The column above in dark blue gives an up to date list of all the users who are logged on. The system is designed to cope comfortably with two classes of 32, but maximum numbers will depend on machine and network speeds too.

When a country is selected the appropriate character set is activated automatically for both the incoming and outgoing chat messages. However, if you wish to send in each others language and they do not use the same character sets then it is possible to alter the incoming set using the incoming characters menu

The menus have the following selections available:-

File Menu

Here you can save the received text message screen, including the messages that have scrolled out of sight. The .jke file type keeps character set information for when the file is re-opened.

Open a saved chat session.

Printer Set Up.

Print the Incoming Chat messages that are currently in view.

Clear either or both of the incoming and outgoing chat screens.

Choose how memory management should work. If you set automatic, when the incoming message buffer fills to capacity it is automatically cleared and the chat system continues. If you select manual then when the buffer is full the system halts and you are given the choice

of saving or printing before the buffer and screen are cleared to enable chatting to continue.

The progress of the buffer filling is displayed on the screen. The buffer can be emptied at any time using the "Clear Incoming Chat Screen" Option.

Country Menu

This menu is pictured further up this screen. On selecting the destination country the necessary non-keyboard characters are displayed for use and the character set for reception is set up. The Country's flag is displayed.

Incoming Characters Menu

This menu is also shown further up this screen. It allows you to have a different character set for the incoming messages than the outgoing messages use.

Fonts Menu

This allows you to choose the font sizes and face. When the Greek character set is selected the Times New Roman font is automatically selected, as it displays the Greek characters more clearly. Other character sets are better in Arial. This menu allows one to over-ride the EncryptoChat default selections.

About

Provides Version Number and Licence Information of the installed EncryptoChat™ Client software so that any upgrades may be applied seamlessly.

Help

Turns the pop up help messages on or off.

Exit

Logs off the user and closes down the program.

Logging on to the EncryptoChat™ Server

The logon screen takes three items: Which server, User ID and Password. Feedback is given if there is a problemduring log on.

User names can be between 4 and 20 characters long . Passwords must be between 4 and 15 characters. Allowed characters are A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9, - and _ only.

As the EncryptoChat™ administrator allocates passwords, the administrator may also look them up or alter them at the EncryptoChat™ Server machine.

The simplest way to define the server machine is by ip address, but Server Name in conjunction with a Domain Name Server is possible.

The Log On Screen

The server ip address is not made up of 4 groups of valid numbers separated by fullstops.

 

The Administrator hasn't created a user name which is identical to that which has just been entered.

If you really have typed the correct password have you remembered that passwords are CaSe sensitive?

 

Messages may be directed to all users logged on to the EncryptoChat™ Server or from individual to individual

When directed to a particular user the User Name is chosen from a drop down list of logged on users.
